Gumato's Growth Journey: Explore as a Turning Point

With over 150 groups having been established in Kenya (part of Explore’s Eastern Region), it is now the country with the largest Explore presence across Africa. Gumato is a member of one of Explore’s groups in Marsabit, which is a town in northern Kenya (Marsabit County). Read her story about Explore’s profound impact on her life…

“My name is Gumato Godana Galgallo. I was born into a Christian family but raised in a predominantly Islamic community. From a young age, I felt the weight of being different. I faced rejection, isolation, and pressure to abandon my faith. At times, I wondered if standing firm was worth the cost. But in my weakness, God’s grace upheld me.

A Gift of Grace

I came to understand that salvation is not inherited, but a gift of grace through faith in Christ alone. The Lord was kind to help me view myself as a helpless sinner in need of redemption, and that Christ alone was my only hope and Saviour.

My hunger and thirst for more of Christ led me to the Explore training. And that marked my turning point. Explore has opened my eyes to the depth of the gospel, not just as a message of belief but as the very foundation of life. I learned that my faith is not about surviving opposition but about living for Christ with boldness and joy.

Explore's Shaping Influence

Explore has impacted me in four different ways: Firstly, I have gained a deeper understanding of grace. I now see salvation not as something I hold onto by effort but as God’s unshakeable promise in Christ. Secondly, it has anchored my faith in God’s Word. Scripture for me is no longer just words on a page, but the very living truth that guides, convicts, and strengthens me.

Thirdly, the Explore modules have built my confidence in the gospel. I am no longer afraid to stand out. I know that Christ is worth everything, and I am called to make Him known. Finally, I feel better equipped for ministry than before. I have been trained not just to grow in faith but also to disciple others for Christ. Studying Explore has shaped my faith and prepared me for a life of Gospel witness.”
